“The noblest motive is the public good.” -Virgil, 70-19 BCE

My name is Tomm Peterdy and I am a retired Firefighter with 35 years of frontline experience in emergency operations and am now in my eighth year of Fire Service recruitment. I progressed from the rank of Probationary Firefighter to Platoon Chief and along the way received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Diploma in Public Administration as well as a wealth of Fire Service information and knowledge. It is this information and knowledge that I want to share with you in order that you may follow in my footsteps.

Members of the Black Helmet Consulting Mentorship Program will receive unparalleled support in their quest for a Fire Service position. My services include resume and cover letter crafting that will present you as a top tier applicant. I continue with in-depth interview preparation that focuses on the types of questions that are asked by the interview panel with a specific emphasis on questions that are unique to each Fire Service and municipality. While some interview questions can be general in nature, behavioural and situational style questions require a customized response that is unique to you and your response must display problem solving ability as well as strength of character.

I evaluate clients on an individual basis and discover where the gaps are in their resume and background experience. I then determine what you need to accomplish in order that you may stand out from all of the other applicants. You are wanting to enter a highly competitive industry and as such, you need to be rock solid in your preparation and presentation.

At times, the hiring process can be challenging, disappointing and overwhelming. My aim is to provide you with the competence and confidence necessary to nail your interview. I am certain that we can work together in your pursuit of the greatest career possible. With hard work, dedication and practice, there is nothing stopping you from wearing the “BLACK HELMET”.
